Nathan Hale Patriots have many opportunities to be involved with extra curricular activities. Clubs and activities vary from year to year depending on student interests. The staff would enjoy the opportunity to turn your interests or hobbies into a club! Here are the clubs that Hale currently offers.

CLubs

 

The newest program of United States Academic Decathlon for middle school students, grades 6-7-8, was created to provide opportunities for students to experience the challenges of a rigorous team and individual competition in five events: Language and Literature, Mathematics, Music, Science and Social Science. The Pentathlon theme parallels that of the high school Academic Decathlon program.

 

The AAHC is a national educational program designed by the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. to enhance the study of African-American history. The goal of the local competition is to encourage pride, self-worth, and an appreciation of the African-American legacy and culture in Omaha youth.

 

Students meet weekly to do various art activities and projects-- including ceramics, making different types of pots, relief structures, and so much more! Unleash your creativity in this unique after school club! See Ms. Groth with any questions.

 

Do you enjoy performing on stage? Then consider trying out for Drama Team!  Students may audition for Drama Team once a semester, and the students who are selected by the director get to be a part of the school plays. Team members perform at least two plays for the school body and the community. While rehearsing for plays, Drama Team meets about three days a week for two months in order to get the plays ready to perform. Drama Team’s other purposes are to develop literacy skills, improve speaking abilities, enhance creativity, and promote teamwork. Drama Team certainly works hard and plays hard!

 

This organization is for Latino and Latina students as well as students wanting to know more about Latino culture. Students organize events for the student body, attend community events, and discuss history and culture.


 

This organization is for any student who enjoys math. Come after school to enjoy some problem-solving and math-related activities!


 

The students in the Scholars program are an association of goal-oriented students who strive to learn more about themselves, support one another, and achieve success at school.

 

Think Tank is a competitive problem solving event for 7th and 8th graders at UNO. It features a game that involves creative problem solving.

 

Comic and Game club is for anyone interested in comic books, anime, board games, or video games. Meet up with friends who share the same interests as you and enjoy some awesome discussions and games!

 

Nathan Hale's H Club is equivalent to a high school letter winners' club. H-club is a group of students, chosen by teachers, that is dedicated to representing Nathan Hale positively, in the building and out in the community. Students practice leadership skills to prepare for a bright future in high school and beyond!

Students who have demonstrated the positive qualities of a leader are nominated and chosen for Principal's Advisory from each grade level. These students meet once a month to discuss school issues with school administration. Students in Principal's Advisory act as representatives for the student body and serve as an important voice when decisions that affect students are being made.

 

Quiz Bowl is an academic competition for students. A four member team competes against the clock answering questions from various disciplines. Skills such as teamwork, cooperative group discussion, problem-solving, and reaction time are enhanced through practices and competition.

 

Student Council is a leadership group that works on building the Nathan Hale community. Members are actively involved in volunteer work and must be academic role models.


 

Those students who would like more one on one study time with a teacher may attend after school tutoring twice a week.

 

This after school chorus is open to anyone who would like to practice singing outside of regular chorus class. Students learn songs and then perform them at semi-annual concerts.
